Taken from my backyard in Cairns where there is plenty of light pollution. Finally got off my butt & had a go... the detail that came out on the photo's blew me away, I couldn't actually see this level of detail with the naked eye so, it was a bit of 'well let's see what happens' moment. Taken with a Sony RX100Mk1, ISO 1600. First shot was a 20sec exposure at f1.8. Second was a 30sec exposure at f2.8. A little bit of cropping & enhancement using Affinity Photo. Whilst I know they are not perfect, I'm pretty happy with the result. Next adventure is to go somewhere dark & see what I can get.

Great shots Carlton, those Sony compacts do a nice job, especially with single exposures like you've done. The sky looks pretty good, I'd trade your light polluted sky any day for my one here in Melbourne! ;)

Thanks Mickoid; our skies would definitely be less polluted than Melbourne but, council installed a highway footbridge a few blocks away some time ago & it's litup like a football stadium. Also, my neighbours have their verandah lights on.. permanently.. I don't think they ever turn them off... :(

Hi Carlton
I bet you would have got a big surprise.
They are terrific captures.
Light polution is one thing but you would have less particles in the air I expect which is a big plus.
Well done and please do some more.
And print these ones up and hang them up someplace.

Hi Carlton, nice work; the next step is to bring out a lot more colour and
detail in the sky without heavily over exposing the foreground.
