Hi everyone.
Moderators please move this if it's not appropriate here.
I'm looking for expresions of interest in a adapter making service for IIS members. I want to offer my services to make adapters, extension tubes etc. for conecting various telescope parts together at the imaging train end of the telescope. This is much like one well known company is doing now in the USA, but I aim to provide the parts at less cost.
Parts will have a moneyback guarantee or replace for free if the parts are delivered out of spec, or something to that effect.
Would this be a service that anyone woud be interested in using??
Regards,
Joshua.

I'm interested. With the new tariffs, precise parts is about to get a whole lot more expensive.

Given the number of people that get adapters from said USA company I don't think you'll have too much of an issue finding buyers :) I'll probably be one of them :P

I think there would be enough demand, especially at prices significantly less than PP.
What might be a ball park price for a simple adapter to join dissimilar threads? Anodised or raw? (not that it matters, easy to flock)

Thanks Guys.
Tony, without any sizes, I'd have trouble with a price. But as i said in my OP... i will aim to be cheaper than PP for an equivalent part. I was looking at getting them anodised, so will look to do that to, but it's the customers choice 😊

"without any sizes"
Ok 80mm 90mm etc, i'm sure you can come up with some sort of estimate, without any estimate it's hard to guage how much is spendworthy.

Hi Nik.
I honestly couldn't say right now. I literally thought of this yesterday and put it out there to see if there would be any interest last night. Ofcourse prices would be preconfirmed abefore going ahead and like i said, cheaper than the competition :)

Now if you could make some high quality focusers like some US companies i have a couple of scopes needing that. ;)
Extension tubes would be good.
Sorry Joshua but we don't allow multiple threads on IIS.
Also, you will need permission from Mike to advertise as an on going business.
He will let you know if he's ok with it but until then I am locking this thread and just leaving your other, 'discussion' thread for now.
