I took these last night with the Esprit 100 and the modded DSLR. I decided to try something different and took 27 x 1min subs using a UVIR cut filter. After that, I turned off the HEQ5pro mount, removed the camera and replaced the UVIR clip filter with a CLS ccd clip filter. I replaced the camera on the scope, refocused, restarted the mount, realigned the object and took another 20 x 90sec subs. While this was happening I went inside the house and watched some TV.
When I came out to shut everything down the area was completely fogged out! I checked the subs and as I went through them on the camera you could watch like a movie playing out M8 and M20 fading away to grey. Doh! I managed to get 8 subs with reasonable tracking and definition but no where near what they could have been if the fog hadn't rolled in.
The joys of astrophotography! Anyway, I had enough to produce a reasonable result from a light polluted front yard. So here's 40mins of integration time with the UVIR and CLS ccd filters combined in PS.
These were shot at 800 iso unguided with the modded Canon 550d.
