Anyone have any idea what is going on here? The moon is a weird shape but what I don't get is the shadow is the exact shape, is it the atmospheric conditions or has Io gone nuts?

The weird shape of the shadow transit and the Moon is due to a vibration in the scope that's occurred during exposure. Nothing weird actually going on. You will notice that the left edge of Jupiter is soft, but the right side is distinctly blurred. The soft edge is to be expected, but the blur is also an artifact of the vibration seen in Io and its shadow transit.

Thanks Alexander I'll have a look at my other videos and see this was one of many I did last night and it was too late to do the rest.

or its a duck :)

If you run your capture through PIPP to dump to TIFF frames you can then play as a slideshow and find the frames that are vibration distorted and delete those from the tiff set, then process the tiff set for your final image, should end up with no blurred edges, round moon/shadow and crisper details.
