A hard one to work with. You've shown it as a rich, thick, interesting stew of dust, gas, and star formation. Well done.

Thank you!
I did a double take on this myself. I do have RHA data on M78 and its much more widefield. The CDK doesn't make particularly pronounced diffraction spikes, usually on bright stars only. But yes it had me looking twice on this point!
Yes perhaps a bit too much purple. Its a funny area colourwise and I do think there is some purple in the area.

Cheers Marc. The CDK and the ML16 with good seeing are a nice match.

It's a realy interesting region Greg and you've captured nice detail and colour.
There really is purple there. I took an image of this region some time ago

There is even more purple than in your pic.

Thanks Louie. I did a version of this framing a while ago and liked how it looked. It wasn't that deep though. So it was on the books to redo it later on.

Was just having another look at this Greg...are you suuuure this was taken with the 17" CDK..? This (https://www.astrobin.com/full/330948/0/) is an M78 also taken with a 17" CDK and the spikes are pretty obvious..
Still nice, just wondering :)

Yeah must be. I need to be more careful of my file naming. That is a pretty amazing image. I'll have to image it next year with the CDK.

Just label them with "24inch RC"...that's about the only chance I would ever have of seeing a file of that name in my computer :P.....

Well you can label it anything you like but the data may not have been taken with an RC24 but an FSQ!
