Well other than almost every channel on free to air having it on I really did not notice.
But I had a laugh today.
I woke up so late I decided to go for a coffee and snack at my favorite coffee shop in the village nearby.
So sitting there minding my business I could not help but notice a couple next to me looking at the paper with a photo of all in attendance..they them proceeded to talk loudly about the folk in the photo as if they were old friends ... royalists I thought... but dont you hate folk who have conversations to impress those nearby who really could not give a damn..in this case me...I guess they were wondering why I did not go.
Sad when al you have to impress is an old fella with a walking frame and ten years worth of hair.

Alex, I'd rather watch your paddock grass grow than watch anything about the Royals.
Didn't know, don't care. Another grand waste of time, money and neurons. FAR more important things happening in the world right now...

I watched a fair bit, you know TV on in the background, while doing other things. It was generally ok as weddings go, I have attended many far worse. Always interested in the choices people make for this sort of ceremony. The American preacher certainly stirred them all up. Loved seeing the Mulronny kids, their grandfather Brian, was PM when I lived in Canada.

I couldn't decide what to wear for the royal wedding.....Finally settled on earplugs and a blindfold.

I hoped this would be a royal wedding free zone, but some body had to bring it up

I liked bits of it, seeing the celebrities in a different environment and in such a historic setting.
Although he went on far too long, that Bishop did make history, probably the first person ever to mention the slaves in that church! He was very politely reminding the crown that a fair bit of its wealth came from such victimised folks.
I also chuckled to myself after, it was more telling who WASNT invited. All this other famousers, they must have been so jealous!!

This. Pity though, as 'ol Hazza is the only one I really have time for.
I'm no royalist but I enjoyed it. I lived for many years near Windsor and have fond memories of the place. Some very stylish outfits, the gospel choir, the beautiful weather and very few pollies. It was a nice wedding. I wish them well.

I also enjoyed what I saw of the event. With the setting, as well as the rituals, it was like watching living history.
Sounds like the event will be well remember by those who were watching, and also by those doing anything else so as to not watch the wedding!

Apparently Trump is pissed that the onlooker crowd along the avenue was MUCH longer and more populated for this Royal Wedding than his inauguration crowd in Washington.

The naysayers in this thread seem to have ignored the fact that it brought
a billion dollars to the U.K. economy, so at least in one way it was
certainly not a waste of money, it generated lots of it. It also continued
the pomp and ceremony that brings in huge amounts of tourist dollars every year.
If I remember rightly, the entire royal family costs each U.K. citizen
about 30cents per year; great value for money.
I'm not a monarchist, I don't really care much either way.

Had to laugh at Vic Beckham, looked like she lost $50 and found 5cents, more like she was attending a funeral. Talk about a sour face:rolleyes:

I noticed that to Peter ...she wasn't the center of attention, so she was not happy.
Personally, I think the Beckham's are woefully ' over rated ' .... who really cares... what's all the fuss about them.

Hi Raymo
I wasnt having a go at the Royal Family and I agree the concept is great for their economy and providing a structure for society.
I was having a go at folk who sit in public places and talk so others can hear how important they are by dropping names or talking about stuff really for the benefit of those near by.
The couple I referred to were clearly making out that they knew the folk in the photo which seemed structured to have folk think they mingled in that crew...maybe they did maybe they didn't it was their putting on the dog that got me.
Unfortunately I missed the wedding and I did so want to see it to check how many me and the Queen know in common cause I am meeting a mate fir coffee and well I want to show off in public and show the folk around just how important I am☺
Our Queen should have a palace or two in Australia so we can get some of those tourist dollars.
And also the Pope should spend a month or two here.

Alex , you should ' tour ' Australia , that will draw the crowds in....folks will spend up ' big '
Col...
In addition to what you said Ray, going back to when the civil list was formed and the royals started getting government handouts for their royal duties etc, they traded in return most of the income from the Crown Estate, so in fact even without the tourism thing, the government is very much up on the deal.

Don't care either way about the royals but the saturation coverage, the drooling no namers with their insipid commentary, the hero worshipping commoners who live their lives vicariously by worshipping those born onto privilege and not giving a tinkers cuss about them. If that's what makes them happy then good for them, Me? I watched the footy, then when it was over handed the missus the remote then microwaved my head which was better than being subjected to the fawning overzealous pretentiousness of the commentators watching this dross.
Besides both Meaghan's dad and Harry's dad didn't turn up which was disappointing

I will take that as a compliment but being exhibited as a freak show would take too much of my time.
..time which is important to me..I only have a little left so I hope folk can forgive me that I want to use it on my personal interests.
But I do feel guilty knowing that maybe if I were out there I could help someone or inspire them to be all they can be...but hopefully they will work it out without me...hopefully I can leave room for folk who need to be there ...the only reason I retired was to let someone else have my spot...
My condition is only achieved by not interacting with other humans which although very pleasant on the one hand can be be intoxicatingly perfect on the other...it is so nice to be ordinary although different to the majority.
I pity those in the Royal family ..it is a full time job..they can never be compensated for what they missed in life and can never know..freedom..few ever expierence freedom and the higher you try to position yourself on the ranking ladder the more insecure you can be...me is a different thing..its funny, its hard to know you are different and you have what others want ... I think it is a sexual thing sometimes...if you have the key it seems simple..
I am happy with solitude and if you cant be happy with solitude...well you tick a whole other way. ..
Anyways for comedians I like George Carlin as he just see things the way they are and Jim Jefferies who shows folk can tolerate profanity when they sence there may be truth to follow.
Its all a game. Good on the Royal Family... they are there...good on the manipulstive folk that haunt Clives visions. ..if you are going to play the game play it full on...they do...my respect for that.
Just because you see what con folk are up to does not mean they are unworthy of respect.

I was once on the security detail for Diana and Charles and was even asked to take Charles windsurfing during their Australian visit so have followed their boys growing up. I did watch the wedding and quite enjoyed seeing Harry get hitched.
They are without doubt a great drawcard for tourism UK. I think their mother would have been proud of how the boys have turned out.

Ordinary folk with ordinary stuff to deal with.
Sadly their role is to be the center of attention which is great for max five years...look at rock stars. ..they get there then they realise being at the top is a real pain.
Humans are as interesting as ..well almost as anything David A can show us.

And people wonder why I left law☺
I cant put my finger on it but there is something in me that did not like the law thing...so I went real estate...do you know how you stand out if you are a straight shooter in that game...
What is the funiest joke you can remember..I have one and sadly I admit, being somewhat embarrassed, that the joke turns on the use of profanity.
Still Jim Jefferies seems to manage profanity.
But it seems confrontational there way he uses it...still I enjoy his work.
George Carlin ...I only discovered George Carlin say six months ago..it was like he mustta listeneded to me drunk at the pub but said it sober.
But he is Irish and I am at least 25% Irish.. my grandmother was 100% so maybe its the Irish thing that has me think arlin is funny when really he is just being somewhat in my view an honest grumpy man...I try not to be grumpy but there are so many openings how can you resist...well you must say it just is a d there is no point in getting upset and pla ning vendetta after vendetta. ..I save so much time just by cutting out on planning them...and now I figure if someone ticks me off they must be stupid and if they are thst stupid someone else will get them...
I have been planning a little vidio comedy thing and putting it on youtube and I thought no that cant end well...no hits and you could be crushed losing all self confidence and destroying yourself via the next available machine at your dispossal...and the dishwasher is close..but you pull back as it seems too terrible..them you think but the head lines...it would make the front page...but no you wouldnt get a cent...whats the point.

I have been working real estate for the past 9 years (we own a couple rental units) - I LOATHE it with a passion. Right now having a major issue with one tenant who leaves - hopefully - this weekend, but somehow I feel I will need to forcibly evict him (with a Police Officer in attendance).

I really enjoyed real estate.
Its terrible to say but I enjoyed being able to control things just like your eviction thing.
I made a point of being very close to the tenants of the properties I managed and kept them on side and to report maintenance issues ...a tenant is a caretaker first and a n income source second...capital gain is the goal so property inprivement key. Do it for the tenants but add value to your portfolio.
Keep your friends close and your enemies closer...well keep your tenants closer☺they can be your greatest assett...
