This little visitor (Laughing Kookaburra) spent time in our backyard today, must have been after something tasty. 300mm FL setting on my 70-300mm lens as he was a fair way up the tree.

Top shot indeed, they are always a good subject, and even sit still. :)

I relocated from my family home in Maldon Vic and can remember the sound of a very energetic kookaburra in the back paddock 25 years ago. It always seemed to be around and made it's presence heard and I saw it occasionally
I have since regained the dark sky site and have heard and seen a very old kookaburra. It seemed quite old and was in the majestic eucalypt at the front of the property about 30 meters from the old cottage.
I am keen to know after all this time could this be my old friend.
