Hi All
My wife bought her 1st telescope yesterday a Bintel BT202 Dobsonian 200mm FL 1200 f6.0.
What a night for our 1st star gaze. The comet was awesome.
Was that a once in a lifetime experience???
My mate had a pair of 10/50 bino's which were even better then the scope to view the comet with.
Quite spectacular:eyepop: !!!!
By the look of the weather now, looks like we lucked out last night.:D

We live in the upper blue mountains where we have next to no light pollution so I guess we have lots of good viewing to look forward to.
Cheers Dave

Hi Dave and welcome to the group .
Congratulations to your wife on her new scope, she has got it at a great time with the comet about, but there are a lot of other fantastic sights to keep you going for many years to come.
Having a dark site is a real added bonus as well.

Cheers

Hi Dave, you certainly got the scope at a good time, but like Ric said, you will never run out of things to see, welcome to you and your wife.

Hi Dave & welcome to IIS, you have lots of fun ahead, McNaught certainly has been great, despite the bad weather.

Saw the comet last night after a week of cloud...fog...etc.Not as good as last Sat. night but still a sight to see.
Went home at 10:30 and my wife setup in the front yard....and you wouldn't believe but the 1st thing she finds was Saturn! She was so exited:D .

Thanks again for the welcome and see you all in space.

Cheers Dave

Hey Dave!

Hope you and your wife feel welcome here at ISS. It's a great scope you bought there, I have the 10" Bintel BT-252 model but unfortunantely, mine didn't come with the dark skies that you have. I mean, I can SEE the harbour bridge and Sydney CBD from my house! Oh well, as long as I stay up long enough It's pretty spectacular.

Welcome again!

Complaining is easy. Finding a way to ameliorate the situation so you have no cause for complaint is hard -- but in the end, its so much more satisfying. Don't take the easy way out. Work hard to get better....NEXT!

Welcome Kaystar.
mmm a typo astronomers get decidedly funny when you say astrology.
I told a lady I was into astronomy and she said "öh hubby is into that.. no astrology..he came in "no both"..I left confused
