The SII data on this project is still not quite there...gee it's faint.. even with my RC16 at F6 I suspect it needs about 8 hours to really really make it sing.
(got two so far)
Anyway here is my Narrow Band colour (i.e. SII, Halpha, OIII) version to date.
Nothing to see here ..... Just your usual ultra-sharp, ultra contrasty image - Well done Peter:thumbsup:
BTW you called it "Aria in Ara", just curious, were you thinking of a specific aria to attribute to it? Nessun Dorma, E Lucevan' le stelle, Recondit Armonia, M'Appari, Casta Diva, Vaga Luna, or .....???? All faves BTW!
Best

Beautiful Peter!love the contrast and the fact the colour is a little different.....an air of mystery I recon.

"E lucevan le stelle" of course! :)
(Loosely translated "And the stars were shining" ) :D

Ta Louie...yep...what to do with NB colour is always a mystery to me :)

Sorry Peter, notwithstanding the wonderful lum data, the colours miss the mark for me I'm afraid. Too bi-colour (magenta and cyan). And where's the green? Have you deliberately subdued it? Removing some magenta and bumping up the yellows would be a good start to making the colours richer. (I was able to get a much warmer & richer result with selective colour, curves, saturation and vibrance layers & ten minutes of fiddling :D).

Yep. I often tell the Greens to bugger off. :)
Besides...where does it say all NB has to be green and golden hues?
That said I'll look at it again when I've got 8 hours of SII ;)

:) Well, the Davies NB aesthetic dictates that there SHALL be 1 dessertspoon of green, 1 tablespoon of gold, 2 tablespoons of blue & cyan, 1 teaspoon of yellow and a pinch of magenta (for authenticity). RGB stars are optional depending on taste. :P

I like the final better Peter. Wasn't too keen on the stellar profiles on the previous.

Thanks Marc, Marcus, David, Col, Andy....might make it to the MKR final this Sunday after all :)
P.S. Shortly after I uploaded this...the 4Tb hard disk in my PC holding that image ...and much, much more data.... went bits-up ()...trying to recover what I can now...

OUCH!
I am one of those that needs to get more redundancy in my images. Don't keep enough backups. This is a reality for all photographers :/
That's a great image Peter. Hard to believe you imaged it from Sydney.
Cheers

Ta.
NB is virtually immune to light pollution...I often get h-alpha data with a fairly full moon in the sky to boot. Unfortunately NB isn't suited to all subjects.
That said...NGC 6188 is probably one of the best for NB treatment
Fortunately all the .fits files are on a different machine :prey:

Excellent work, Peter. Much subtle detail in the fainter passages.
You've captured lots of SII.

That Alluna scope is really singing.

I just like the wider field of view on NGC 6188 gives out more detail
but still a nice image.
Martin.

Oh no....Another wide field wuss....:) (But agreed Martin Pugh’s FSQ image of this is extremely impressive)
Thanks Tim
Maybe I should call the ‘scope Luciano?
Thanks M&T...I’m still gathering more SII...some interesting structures there.

Nicely done Peter. I'm not totally convinced by the colour but the detail looks great.
Cheers

Thanks Steve...I suspect this is still a work in progress...as I agree on the colour. The SII is too thin...but tantalising when you get some depth to it.
The H-alpha simply booms in...taming it is proving to be interesting.

Its coming along nicely, slow cooked like I often seem to do!
Perhaps try your reducer for the S11 to beef up the signal.

Ta Greg...grabbled some 5 hours of SII now...plus made a radical departure from
the Hubble Palette to a more eye-soothing gold/turquoise tone....but have to say am now very pleased with the colour :)

:thanx: Glad you like the view
I suppose you could call it a remapped Hubble, as the SII, Ha OIII still starts off mapped as RGB...but the clearly Aussie thing to do is to then map green to gold :D
