Hi all. Earlier tonight took this pic of galaxy NGC 4945. 8 x 15 minute ISO 200 with the old Modded 350D totally unfiltered so it includes near IR light. Hand guided with off axis guider and ASI guide cam. with 10 inch f5.6 newtonian. I watched the Storm flog the Broncos on tonights footy displayed in a window to help pass the time while guiding :) Images Calibrated in IRIS then finished in Photoshop. Full res. version here

That looks really good. You've perfectly captured the feel of the galaxy in the centaurus dust.

Nice work, Scott. You should buy yourself a guider :)

That old 350D does alright! Are you still using the Samson mount?

Great detail and colour in the galaxy :)
Hand guiding, I'm glad that is mostly a think of the past by the time I got into astro :P

Thanks all. Yep still using the Sampson mount, a great mount for its day and the plastic drive wheel still tracks reasonably well with slow correctable periodic error, but sadly the old synchronous motor and manual slow motion dec means autoguiding is not possible. The off axis guider means flexure isnt an issue so I can go for 15 minute subs and surprisingly the old un cooled 350D still doesn't have too much thermal noise after 15 minutes.
