And probably still can't!

Conditions cleared last night here, but the sky - especially LP - was a strong "Meh", but decided I had to image anyway. I have a list of "just to say I've imaged it" targets, and a couple are around Crux, so went with NGC 5315 PN in Circinus.

I knew it was SMALL. I didn't think it was THAT small

This is the HST version of it: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:NGC_5315HSTfull.jpg

This is my version (3hrs of 10 min subs)>

Close crop (yes, the pinky "star" at centre) - 400% zoom :eyepop: : https://www.astrobin.com/full/342081/B/?nc=user

Don't blink, you'll miss it! I am not going to revisit it. I'll leave that to people who image at f/15 :P I think I need more aperture and resolution...you know, kind of like Hubble or La Silla....

Difficult binocular target then....

Tough target!

Indded, such that in the combined image PI spat out, I actually initially thought I was a little off target and thought the PN was a brightish red star off to the right and up a little! Until I plate solved it and went, "Oh"

Yup. NOT going here again :P

Are you sure you aren’t just off target and confusing PI with its plate solve? ;)

LewisM

Could be Colin

Besides, Astrobin plate solved it and agrees :)

this is the "object" I initially thought was NGC 5315. I will run it through plate solving online again and see if it can name it, because it looks like a PN to me. This is a little ways from 5315. 400% zoom again.

Can I claim discovery? :P

OK astrometry.net found nothing: http://nova.astrometry.net/user_images/2067457#annotated

I hereby name it the Lubov PN in honour of my mother in law :)

Perfect target for your system.....

I found it without using the annotated version or seeing your crop too :D

Can you have a crack with the Newt Mike - your FSQ will show the same field/scale as mine pretty much. You can see I didn't even bother processing it...no colour boost, noise reduction...nada. Just straight out of PI with a background neutering and colour calibration.

Go deep or go home

You bunch of monkeys could at least give it a thumbsup

I usually take care of these with the healing brush tool in PS.

Yep. I can just BARELY see any detail (lower left side). Otherwise, it's looks like a star to me.

Might back off the stretch a bit and see if I can see the mag. 14 central star.

Haha, no , hot pixel!

Sometimes it's fun to image the tiny ones. Shows just how deep space really is
