WOW i am so happy with the first go at this its not funny. there is a little out of focus lower left but i am pretty sure its because its the DSLR and cant adjust for that. no light pollution filter. BUT i have ordered a ASI ZWO071mC pro so i should be able to nail that i hope

Completely unguided, a series of 1sec, 5sec, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 40, 60 and 90 second images totaling 2hours 11minutes

it was hard to get the image under the file size

Stacked in Deepskystacker, processed in Pixinsight and resized in PS

for comparison this is what imaged back in 2010 (http://www.iceinspace.com.au/forum/attachment_browse.php?a=80891)

and early 2010 (http://www.iceinspace.com.au/forum/attachment_browse.php?a=75045)

and horror of horrors 2007 version (http://www.iceinspace.com.au/forum/attachment_browse.php?a=30658)

I can understand you being happy and indeed you should as that is a very nice image.
Keep it up and dont sit back waiting for the new camera.

Very cool. I can relate to the excitment the first time I used the hyperstar. It's an unusual feeling spending more time copying files over than actually capturing data.

Absolutely but I love it. The other big challenge is flats. I ended up waiting for very late afternoon /evening and took some 1/4000 and 1/2500 shots a few minutes apart and eventually had a set to work with.

For flats I put an EL sheet on top of my dew shield and point the scope up.

Coming along nicely Dave...you might finally have a system that you use regularly, good luck

Excellent work David, the image has a rich, 3D appearance. Great job for a first light session.

If only I had a $ for every 'scope that has passed through your adventurous hands...;)

Cheers
