Jupiter & Ganymede shadow

Drove 2 hours to a "dark" site at Haigh park at Moogerah Lake. The weather was alright despite the forecast, but the western horizon was a complete lightshow and couldn't get any deep sky imaging done due to the lightning flashes and the number of people that slowly trickled in every half hour or so. I did by complete chance grab a decent image of the Io transit (the butt end of it anyways) as well as the GRS. Not too shabby for a 5" refractor ;)

Not too shabby at all.
Last night I was setting up stuff but the sky was clear but lightning to the South yet when a flash occurred the sky lit up even to the North.
I guess there must have been moisture which "conducted" the light. It seemed strange to see where the sky was clear.
I still think even with the flashes it was better than Sydney☺.

I think this might be Ganymede not Io, goes to show what I know about planets :P

The weather tricks you in to thinking it'll be a pristine night of imaging but BAM lightning every 3 seconds that light up 50% of the sky. Going out again to Wyaralong dam (1hour instead of 2 of moogerah) to do some proper imaging. Tonight looks much more promising.
