Easier to hang a red led torch under...

I’ve seen tripods lit up with glow strips but imho it degrades your night adaption much more than many think.

Applying some reflective tape or even just white trim will make it stand out well enough in the dark.

Yep, there are easier ways.

I use a cheap headtorch, running the headstrap around one of the legs.

I direct the light onto the accessory tray.

I can switch the torch to flashing if I so choose.

I forgot my tripod does have a hook under it so ill just hang the red torch under there and see how it goes .

Have added cheap bicycle tail lights to the bottom of each leg of my tripod, works beautifully, and can change from one to three flashing lights at the touch of a button. Only turn them when other people are about. Lights are attached using hose clamps.

Cheers Keith

I use glow in the dark 3D printed knobs on my EQ6 tripod.

Dont get me started hanging bling off it I'll never stop:rofl:

I've seen some imaging rigs lit up like a x mass tree, I think i'll try a few glow in the dark patches with the torch for now , gitzo didn't want the tripod to reflect any light its so hard to see, thanks for all the ideas.

I built some red flashing tripod leds using LM3909 led flashers. The LM3909 was originally a National semiconductor product, and was unavailable for some time after National discontinued the product. The LM3909 needs only a led and a capacitor and battery to flash a led, what's special about it is that the 3909 will run for a couple of years on a single d cell, 6 months on an alkaline AA battery, in my case I didn't even use an on off switch. I made up 3 in small plastic boxes velcro'd to the tripod with the LED facing down used at Astrofest a few years ago, not turned off for the whole week I was there..... You can get LM3909's on ebay for as little as $5 each.

Datasheet here (http://solarbotics.net/library/datasheets/LM3909.pdf) the flasher cct I used is on page 3.
