I bought two of these for trials on back-lighting the spectrograph slit - never used!

Typical screw-in Red LED illuminators. I think the thread maybe 5/16"???

Comes as new, including batteries ;)

Asking $20 each plus post
Photo to follow.

Hi Ken

I'm tempted, any idea if the standard Meade finder scope can be adapted to take one? 50mm I think. I doubt you know the answer, just hoping.

I'll try to do a bit of research over the weekend.

Yes and no.
It depends on which Meade finder you have. One with glass or with crossed wires.
It can be done but its exceeding ugly.
I fitted one to my Meade finder, the hole you need to drill is hard up against the back end of the barrel in order for the illumination to shine on the OD of the reticle glass. Its so close I had to position mine at an angle. If you have crossed wires its not so critical, you can move the illuminator back a little towards the eyepiece end.
The other problem you will find is the eyepiece end is made of THIN plastic, not much to cut a thread into, you will only get about 1 and a bit turns of thread (on a curving surface ) so its really easy to cross thread or strip the thread in the hole.
All those negatives aside, having an illuminated finder does make it so much easier to see the reticle.

PS the threads on mine were 8 mm with an unusual pitch, I had to get a tap just for that job.

Good Luck.

Hi Gary

Thanks for the info, I have a plastic eyepiece end. So I think I will leave it.

Sorry about that Ken, but, I'll leave it at a no.
