How to stop Starry Night SPAM?

Hey all :)

I bought my wife Jenny a little Orion scope a while ago, and with that package came a copy of "Starry Night - Orion Edition". Anyway, you have to register the copy to get updates, etc, so we did.

We have had nothing but a barrage of emails from them ever since. I've followed the links to say we're not interested, I've followed the links that say if the first links don't work - try these. I've left numerous requests that they stop, desist and remove my email address from their lists.

They will not. I keep on getting the same "20% off this week" junk from them day after day.

Has anyone else gone down this path with these people and managed to make them quit?

Spam them back. Everytime you get a spam message forward it back to every single email address that you have from the vendor with a standard response that you want to be removed.

when you signed up there was probably an option to not/recieve emails? do you have an account or something where you can change your options?

or you can invest or find a free version of a spam filter program like mailwasher

it previews all your emails and from there you can bounce em right back and keep the ones you want
before you download them :)

While I run my own IMAP mail server (I am the Unix admin) and can easily stop email from this domain coming in - I'm concerned that they aren't following requests to stop their spam activity. White it's easy for me to deflect them, most won't have the knowledge or means to do the same. This is not a mob pushing Viagra or canny stock purchases, it is Orion Telescopes - a pretty large and respected company.

Ving - I always choose the "NO" option. That's of even more concern that they choose to ignore it.

First of all dont resond to Spam , unless your sure the sender is the sender, It may not be the case, headers can be faked , easily...

Get Spambully, Its brilliant and you get a free trial, Its filters learn quick and it has challenge response if you want to go that way, Integrates well into Outlook, learns from your current good mail , and your contacts. I have a website and was getting rather upset about the rubbish, they attract. the free version is only time limited, When you get your inbox back, you will gladdly cough the 20 or 30 it costs...
