Small PN near Lambda Cent

This is a smallish planetary nebula just to the side of the Running Chicken, does anyone know what it is called? The only reference I've been able to find is in TheSkyX where it is classified as "PLN 294- 0.1".

It is about 72 arcsec in diameter and while there is quite a substantial amount of Ha in the background surrounding it, I haven't stretched the image very hard.
I have lost some of the teal colour in the centre in the way that I've blended the Ha into it, something I do need to work on.

The closest PN i can find is:

He 2-72, about 30' outside the Running Chicken.

Visual magnitude +14.5.

Interestingly, it has a PK catalog designation of PK 294-00.1

Challenging object Colin. The RGB shot is certainly showing structure, so reworking the Ha + RGB should be worthwhie.

The object is PN Hf 69, aka ESO 129-29, Hen 2-72, PN G294.9-00.6, PN Sa 2-79, AM 1139-621, etc.

Cool stuff Colin! So the chicken has a small PN near it. I'll have to check previous shots to see of I have it otherwise I'm going to have to hunt it next clear sky.

The PK catalog must correspond to the PLN of TheSkyX.



I knew it would be out there somewhere! I found it on Aladin but I haven’t quite figured out how to get it to tell me object identifications. I’ve mostly just used it for star magnitudes.



Cheers Geoff, I was driving home last night and I think I’ve figured out a way of creating a H(b) channel to blend in with the blue. Certainly won’t help with any OIII signal towards the core of the PN however.



Thanks MnT :) Check our the 7 O-Clock position near the chicken (https://www.astrobin.com/full/339744/B/), that’s where it’s located. It appears to have created its own cavity in the Ha.

You can download the ESO planetary Neb catalogue for Cartes du Ciel.

One of the official designations seems to be "PK294-00 1" - note no decimal point.
