Went up to the local golf course this evening just before sunset which set just on 8.00 p.m. and caught a brief glimpse of the comet around 8.15 p.m. to 8.30 p.m. It was just barely visible to the naked eye about 5 to 10 degrees above the horizon however my binoculars showed quite a bright head with a smallish tail. The seeing wasn't brilliant as my photos show owing to thin cloud or smoke haze. The photos look better before resizing to suit this forum. The high res image of the Sun and bird clearly shows Mercury a short distance away, approximately 45 degrees to the right.
I'll be up at the golf course tomorrow evening and hopefully conditions will be better. The first four shots were taken to fill in time and set the scene. My 350D and Sigma 18-200mm DC Zoom lens were used to take the shots.
Cheers,
Steve
