It's a sad day, this is a huge loss.

"I’m not afraid of death, but I’m in no hurry to die. I have so much I want to do first."

Huge loss.

RIP Stephen Hawking, you gave this world so very, very much.
I think his quote below says so very much.
"It would not be much of a universe if it wasn't home to the people you love."

Although it was inevitable, a great loss of a one of the greatest icons of free thinking scientific intellect...

Considering his considerable and life shortening physical ailments, he lived a long and incredibly meaningful life.

An extremely great loss. Hawking's comments on the need for humanity to leave this planet seem to have fallen on many deaf ears in politics, as have his warnings about present-day indicators of the forthcoming (and catastrophic) greenhouse effect. A sad day - 76 years of age is not that old, but how he persevered through that crippling and debilitating disease for 50 years, is astonishing, not to mention his dazzling intellectual achievements. Vale, Stephen Hawking.

So sorry he is gone, i was looking forward to his continuing with his work on the "Bent Time" theory, the time before time. Irreplaceable.
The Big Bang cast must create a homage.

I know of several people with ALS, the same nerve destroying disease as Hawking. None lived more than 2 years. It's a great loss but we, and he are lucky he lived as long as he did and contributed as much to human philosophy, physics and cosmology as he did.

Truly one of humanities great thinkers.

We have been blessed to have had Steven. We now need to build upon his legacy, not bemoan his passing.

Thank you for your example and your mind. A beacon of light for ever more.

Though people mean well when they say "Rest in Peace" or "RIP", I think
Stephen would have considered it a lot of mumbo jumbo :)

Stephen had to live his whole life contemplating an early
death and I can't help but feel that he would have joked that he would
neither be at rest or at peace, just dead.

As he once said, "I think the conventional afterlife is a fairy tale for people afraid of the dark."

For a man who spent a good part of his life attempting to prove the Universe
could be created without a God, I would imagine that he might have hoped
that we could at least re-boot his brain. :)

He once said, "I think the brain is like a program in the mind, which is like
a computer. So it's theoretically possible to copy the brain on to a computer
and so provide a form of life after death."

So long Stephen and thanks for all the golden eggs.

Not a bad innings seeing as he was given 2 years to live at the age of 20. RIP SH

So sad, I can't believe he's gone.
He did pick a very cool day to leave us though  - March 14th is International Pi Day & also Einstein's birthday, so it's a day we celebrate both math and science. So now we'll fondly remember him also on this day.
R.I.P. Prof. Hawking, you'll be terribly missed.
I just told my 27 year old daughter, "this is a historic day, remember it!" And she said "I will, I definitely will Mum".

Ptolemy, Copernicus, Da Vinci, Newton, Lemaître and Einstein left us, our time was enriched by Stephen Hawking.

Somewhere amongst us is the person who proves there wasn't a "big bang", wormholes are real or the speed of light can be broken.

They will be the next person to stand on the shoulders of giants...

Gone and on AE's birthday.

“Remember to look up at the stars and not down at your feet. Try to make sense of what you see and wonder about what makes the universe exist. Be curious. And however difficult life may seem, there is always something you can do and succeed at. It matters that you don’t just give up.”
