WO-66ED tests

Hi All,
Bought a secondhand WO Petzval 66mm ED scope to see what FOV one can get (looking for a wider FOV than the ED80) wanted a Fluorite Scope as this would have also given me an idea of the difference between Ed and Fluorite, however I couldent get one (at my price).

The first Pix. was of the M42 area using the WO66 on its own, then with a MEADE f-6.3 focal reducer (its not very useful as theres too much Coma Etc.), the WO66 has a very flat field, sharp round stars right out to the edges, so it looks like it will be a useful scope on its own for imaging this size FOV.

Pix. were 6 x 6 Min. at ISO-800 ED removed, guided.

Nice shots Jim , hows the vignetting with the scope with and without the focal reducer being only a 1.6" focuser. Have thought about one of these scopes but that has put me off a bit..

Hi Gary,
Well the viginetting is non exsistant when you use the scope without any Focal Reducer, the field is flat too, maybe with the WO focal reducer things would be better as regards using a FR, the small focus range is a problem, I used a Celestron 2 " Camera adaptor + an extension (about 1/2" in length) to get focus on the Canon, its not a bad Scope but not a touch on the Orion ED80.

I actually prefer the image field in the pic with the 6.3 FR. Just looks more pleasant and gives a nice pespective of the area. :thumbsup:
