With the clear run of imaging we have in southern Aus at the moment last night I battled the mosquitoes and setup. By the time that astronomical dark set in and when I knew I needed to stop imaging, I had just under 8 hours. As I am working on a 4 panel mosaic I set 23x300s Ha on each panel.

Upon getting up in the morning it came to my attention that in an 8 hour period I can capture 92x300s. 7.666667 hours of imaging for 8 hours which includes dithering, focusing, download time and moving between panels. I was quite happily asleep during the entire process :)

So, it got me thinking, how much time do others lose in the general unavoidable delays?

That’s pretty good Colin, where’s the masterpiece?

I get a similar ratio now I’ve got my process nailed down, the only times I notice a gap of 15 minutes is when PHD/SGP get twitchy about a ball of fluff going past the guidescope. A 5 minutes resume wastes valuable imaging time!
