Drought, but not clear. Unlike the drought in the early 2000's (day after boring day of clear blue).

I am totally fed up with this humid soggy stuff. Either pour and be done, clouds, or piss off.

Do agree it has been cloudy for too long with no clear views

well "hasn't rained" was mean in a generalistic view, when waterholes dry up, wet retention ponds no longer exist and you watch rain falling elsewhere but on you. we have had very minimal rainfall that has been sporadic. some got it and some didn't. for me when the grass is dead and very crispy crunchy underfoot its pretty dry. an example is the wet retention pond near bunnings wallsend - it was bone dry with a bathtub amount of water in it and several dead egrets. the last time it had water was September and that wasn't much. i didn't think i have ever seen it as dry, maybe the mid 80's. the farmers are suffering badly throughout most of eastern Australia , alternately west Australia seems to have had more rain, but that may only be a perception;)

Your right mate, we needed it, astronomy can wait. My lawn was brown and the birds were struggling to find a drink. I could not believe my ears when that rain came down over night. I was watching the Newcastle tv weather guy a couple of days ago when he commented on 2% humidity at Scone, where the land was so dry it was cracking open. I see Scone got the rain as well. It was a good long drink for the land.

Up here on top of the divide is usually the last place to be green and we are well past that. I havemn't seen it this dry up here in in the 30 or so years I've been here.

It's also been so far unusually rainless wet season up this way, that is until yesterday, when I got a new to me beautiful eyepiece, and new alt-az mount arrives today...

And that was a year in El Nina conditions with a neutral to negative IOD as well. Next year outlook is plain scary.

Nothing out my way either, only had 2.5mm for the month so far.
Paddocks are dust and the dam looks like a moon crater.

The wallaby's are now starting to eat the old bread we throw out for the ducks there's that little food around.

That's 50mm of bug carcasses, not rain
