While we are waiting breathlessly for comet 2006/P1 McNaught, Mars is slowly gliding towards the Lagoon Nebula in the morning sky. Over the next few mornings, watching Mars approach the Lagoon Nebula will be beautiful, cumulating on the 16th, when Mars is in the heart of the Nebula. Best viewed with binoculars.

Hopefully one of our Deep Sky imagers will have a go at this.

I hope they do to jjj, would be great to see different images from different locations.
I am going west to a few obs. for a while so hopefully this alignment is something that i and others can share and get a visual on at better skies than here on the coast, it is atmospherically thick and yucky here and refuses to rain.

Will be lovely to see mars rise again in November despite the size, it is always a stirring sight.
