Hi all,
I ordered a Skywatcher Black Diamond ED80 (Apo doublet) which I picked up today. Thing is, the scope itself is marked as an Evostar ED80. There's not a lot of info in the box itself. Not sure if this is just a rebranding of the same line or if I got a different scope than I paid for? Does anyone happen to know whether they are the same or different?

Breadfan.. I think this may just be the English name Skywatcher uses for the same thing as Black Diamond here in Oz; here is an Evostar ..

Or BINTEL...

SPECS look the same.
Were did you purchase ..here or overseas?

It came locally but was ordered from whereabouts unknown... That sounds like a pretty likely explanation. It's the one in the photo you linked to first. I compared it with the latest catalogue and there are similarities and differences enough that I was just totally confused
Thanks bigjoe!

Specs are the same - price, not so much! I’m all for buying locally, but sheesh!

 Me to but 469 pounds is only $829 aud .
But all in all these are an awesome scope , one of these a 'Saxon' badged version was my very first APO that I payed $1000 nzd about 10 years ago for bare bones OTA only so Bintel's price is still quite good and I was amazed at its performance , I am sure you will be too .
Oh yes :welcome: to IIS Breadfan .
Brian.
In the currently adjacent thread, Tony (that_guy) says...
"UPDATE: Skywatcher Aus now has them in stock set at $499 RRP with aluminium case. Definitely worth considering at this price."
