 keep em coming, nice to see some different perspectives of the launch and landings, these guys were a lot closer than the last video I saw. http://www.iceinspace.com.au/forum/showthread.php?t=164582
The news feeds all cut the sound out.

Does anybody have links to the stage 1 centre core booster crashing into the sea near the drone ship ?
Would also make a great spectacle !
Elon Musk mentioned in the post flight interview that they were not going to reuse the centre core anyway.
I guess he would have preferred a soft landing on the drone ship to give the mission a 100% success

That's awesome. Unlike the flame thrower.
Which flame thrower are you talking about?
The one he sold on ebay or the core that didn't make it?
That is awesome, thanks for sharing Dean.

Can anyone explain why they cause a sonic boom?
In simple terms I understand, they aren't travelling at over or near the
speed of sound in that phase are they?

The boosters get slowed to transonic velocity (still >Mach 1) with the re-entry burn. That slows them sufficiently to minimise aerodynamic heating - but they're still supersonic, hence the 'booms'.

gotcha, thanks Dean,
I didn't realise until I watched that several times how fast they
are actually traveling!
