My newly acquired Nano Tracker has a supposed micro USB socket to
allow external power instead of batteries, but the micro USB cable
I bought doesn't fit; has anyone else had this problem, and more to
the point, overcome it?

Problem solved. It would appear that the socket is not micro USB, because
the cable that is used to transfer images from my Canon DSLR to my
laptop fits.

My Nano Tracker has no outlet for an external power supply. This must be a new feature.

Yes, the latest model has that feature, which it says is micro USB, but my
micro USB cable does not fit. It turns out, as I said in my previous post,
that my Canon camera to USB cable fits, so I can power the tracker from
my laptop which has power off charging capability. I can, of course, run it
off the mains when using it in the back yard.

A handy feature and long overdue. I ended up getting rechargeable AA batteries so I have a spare set fully charged at the ready. I've been using the Tracker more than the Heq5 pro mount recently. It's just so easy and quick to set up and pack away - love it!
