Can you name this object - Tassie 5:30am AEST daylight saving

Get up at 3.30am, first time in ages i have been able to image.
Saturn video has been captured, now just have to find where Adam's ppmcentre program now is.....

Seeing seem average say 5/10......but what was really wierd was the ambient temp.

Transparency was great, no clouds at all, but when i got out there, the ambient was 11.5 and the mirror was 12.5. This is strange cos the active cooling is very good in keeping up......so do the alignment thing and get an image on the computer and then check the temps and the ambient is 12.5 and the mirror 12.5...........hmmmmmmmmm - turn off fans and cooling

next minute, ambient is now 12.9 and mirror 12.5.

Basically from 3.30am thru to 5.30am, the ambient moved up and down from 11.2 up to 13.2.

Needless to say, the overall seeing was crap.

So for fun, I have included an unnamed planet from a screen shot of registax. It was the worst rated bmp....Trust me, it was focussed!!!

So beginners, this is a great example of how the image varies...

Interesting DP...

Sounds like a similar morning to the "strange" one I had when I captured my last Saturn image.

The wild ambient temp variation at that hour in the morning would possibly explain the effects I was seeing on my laptop screen.

i was trying to explain to the wife, why i stayed out there for2 1/2 hours watching jelly on a laptop screen..................and had nothing to show for the investment of time........................and yet i still enjoyed it!!!!

I crawled into bed around 5 this morning with nothing to show for 3 hours outside but mozzie bites and bags under my eyes:lol:

Oh. Dear.

Sounds like localised inversions, we get them around canberra too - they show up on the weather radar as fake rain, like lots of white bubbles.

I have graphs where the temp jumps up by 2 or 3 degrees for no reason, then 20 minutes later it drops back again, as these things go over.

very annoying.

Just remember - what doesn't kill you makes you stronger :-)

if your wife doesn't kill you for waking her up to get out of bed, only to wake her up getting back into bed and then not to have at least something to show her..............................ma ybe dead is a nicer option :)
