Hi guys

I'm going to be on 2NUR FM (http://www.2nurfm.com) radio tomorrow morning, at 6:50am, talking to Col Maybury about IISAC2007 (http://www.iceinspace.com.au/iisac).

So if you're a local (Newcastle area), tune in on 103.7 FM.

Everyone else can tune in via the web - go to the website and click "Listen" (Quicktime required).

I hope I don't stuff up! :scared:

Listen in! :)

And you all thought I was mad when I said TV may be your future..I guess you dont need just that statement to think I am mad..but here we are radio no less.. the doors open. Congratualtions Mike great stuff.
A word of advice always when being interviewed be prepared to carry the interviewer..by that I mean be ready to say it all wheter they ask or not sometimes they simply dont prepared their questions correctly and you can be left to deliver your message without "leading" questions...... not that I have had much experience but the little I have told me that.
Best wishes.. they should have you on each week I recon..

I did about 30 radio sessions last year in my day job and was almost enjoying them at the end:) . In case you have not done any before, my advice is:
1. Prepare and rehearse a statement that covers the main points you want make - and keep it succinct.
2. Write down phone numbers dates IIS web address to prompt in case you get flustered
3. Have 2 or 3 short annecdotes to provide colour - at 6.50 the announcer will appreciate some light material

Finally, watch the time - I guess you are the last item before the news

Thanks Dave - the MP3 has been sent to me, but my works virus scanner blocked it. I need to get the support centre to "release it", so i'll post it later today when it's available.

Was good fun.

You can download the mp3 from here:

Mike Salway - Lostock (http://www.iceinspace.com.au/uploads/mikesalway-lostock.mp3)

It's almost 1meg, and goes for just over 4 minutes.

I have no idea as to how many listeners 2NUR has, Mike, but that was great. Neat, tidy and compact.

Did you ask the presenter to query you about comet McNaught or had he done some research? That was a nice touch - "brightest comet in thirty years" I would imagine would pique a few peoples' interest.

Mike you did well.

Great promotion for the camp and for the forum.

Only problem I didn't get a mention...I played it back 3 times and heard nothing on Striker only heard of people like David Marlin and Mike Sidonio and a bloke called Bird (who the hell are they)....lol

After listening to your interview I so wish I could have made it again this year but it's just not possible.

Well done Mike.

Ahh gez, after hearing verbally all the great stuff that's hapenning at the camp now I'm really depressed that we don't have something like that in Perth. Just the thought of guest speakers like that and actually having vendors to sell stuff at the camp...

But hey, I don't miss having 1 million people instead of 10 million people in the state.

Ho hum..

Very well done Mike. Most eloquent. I think it was said before - you and the announcer should swap jobs.

If you download the mp3, you don't need to worry about proxy etc - you just need a compatible mp3 player like windows media player

Thanks all for your comments, when I listened back to it myself, it did sound quite good.. better than I felt at the time :)

The interviewer was a guest of the announcer - the real announcer was smooooth. :P

I may be on the radio again today, on a Central Coast local station, Star 104.5 FM (http://www.star1045.com.au/).

They wanted someone to talk about Comet McNaught, and Karl from NSAS (thanks Karl!) gave them my name.

I just pre-recorded a series of grabs for them, so hopefully they'll play them during the news sometime today on Star FM.

I'll try and get some mp3's, but she didn't really know what I was talking about when I asked for them :)
