Hello griffo51 and :welcome:
I am sure there are some of us that have built there own EQ platform and could give you advice on how to go about it.

I know Mike has one and from what I seen it was worth the money.

Hi Griffo, welcome.

I notice you're from Swansea - not far from Ed (Orion)?

Are you coming to IISAC2007 (http://www.iceinspace.com.au/iisac)?

I bought my EQ platform from www.roundtableplatforms.com, and i've been very happy with it. I've had it for about 18 months. Petra (spacezebra) bought one more recently too, and I believe she's also happy with it.

Others on the forum have the skills and ability to make their own - they might help out with plans etc, but I just didn't have the skills, tools or the time to consider making my own.

I'll be selling my EQ platform within the next month, so if you're interested, keep an eye out. I use it with a 10" GSO dob. I'm not sure how big the base for the 12" is - if yuo give me measurements i'll check the size of the platform.

Hi there

Yes, very happy with the platform. Must admit that I had a few teething problems - but I put that down to minor tweekings and my own inexperince. Hoping to get some tips from Mike - on how to adjust for different lats.

I have posted a few pics of my set up.

I seen Mikes in action and it works well.
I don't think you will have any problems with it.

How much extra was shipping to Australia?

I'm curious as to if there is any trouble with us being in the southern hemipshere as well - I looked into eq platforms in detail several years ago but I've forgotten most of the theory :ashamed:

It was made specifically for my latitude (-33S).

Shipping wasn't cheap, but it was a while ago. Brian (Reed) or Petra should be able to give you current prices for shipping.
