On April 1st 2018 Mars passes 21' minutes of arc North of the very bright globular cluster M22 , one of the finest and easiest to resolve globulars in the night sky in just about any aperture over 76 mm.
At magnitude +5.9 and apparent diameter of 24' and Mars at 9 " ,this should make for a spectacular image.
Even I'll take a few with my DSLR.
PS:Of course no long exposure possible with bright Mars.

Saturn will be nearby too; only 1.5 degrees away. So, wider field of views will be interesting.

Looking forward to this conjunction as well, remember back to 2 years ago when Mars was in the same widefield as M8 / M20. That was quite a pretty sight and image so this years visit to M22 will be worth the cost of admission to the show.

Once in a lifetime, or more these events..Steve, the very next day April 2nd Mars and Saturn will be less than 1.5° of each other...and M22 nearby as well .
May get all 3 in same field using wide angle lenses.

Remember that one Jeff.
Mars, Saturn and M22 in same field of view of many fast scopes and lenses, is a real, and very rare treat.

Sounds great Jeff.
Ill be watching with a 6 inch Celestron F5 doublet and Baader Fringe Killer that does not dim the image much at all.. over 95% transmission with violet below 450nm completely blocked .Its infra red blocker at 650nm, and gives a nice crisp view, with 19mm Pan and a 3.5mm Delos for close ups.. and a few shots.
May have a look with the 9 1/4 SCT as well.
