A complex of emission nebulae and the second-largest star forming region in the LMC.
Captured at Yass 11 Sep - 21 Dec, 2017 (Martin Pugh's obsy)
Scope: Astro-Physics RH305 @ f/3.8 = 1119mm FL
Mount: Paramount ME II
Camera: SBIG STXL-16200M
Filters: Astrodon
Image scale: 1.106 arcsec/pixel
Exposures: 3x600s + 12x1200s R, 3x600s + 12x1200s G, 8x600s + 8x1200s B, 20x1800s Ha, 21x1800s Oiii, 18x1800s Sii (42.5 hours)
Processing: PixInsight 1.8.5
Placidus/Mike & Trish dubbed it the Angry Bee. In this colour palette with my trademark heavy saturation it looks positively apoplectic :D

Hope you like it, or at least that it provokes a reaction ;)
Cheers,
Rick.

Nice one Rick. You ought to try the NGC 1935 area. To me that looks like an angler fish.
Cheers

The saturation is, well, Las Vegas neon....but hey...if you got it flaunt it.
A really fine image...as you’d expect from such a great optic/mount/camera plus location.
Nice one

Superb depth there Rick. Capturing the SII has added much. Excellent result.

Thanks, Peter!
Ta Mike. The magenta/orange dichotomy is always a difficult one for me. I like to vacillate between the two
Martin is offering quite reasonable pricing for subscriptions. Some of my SRO colleagues are interested in his site for a shared Southern scope so this gives us an inexpensive way to try it out and get a feel for the weather and seeing. It's working out pretty well so far.
Thanks very much M&T! I was greatly impressed with your NB rendition of this puppy

Ah colour, overrated... we should only see in B&W...oh and IR too :P
Great stuff, hope it works out well...so, how many scopes World wide will you have your fingers into then..? Be like your own optical SKA :eyepop:

this is an exceptional job! so many hours means a huge job waiting for the nights and having to handle a huge amount of files. Wonderful!

Mike, my main remote scope is still our shared C300 at SRO, but I also get data from three scopes at Deep Sky West (Rokinon 135mm f/2, RCOS 14.5" and TEC 160) and, of course, Martin's RH305. I have a *lot* of data waiting to be processed
Thanks, Fabiomax!

Nice one Rick, there’s a lot of dynamic range in there and love the open cluster in the centre...surrounded by the fierce glow of the gas clouds

Well, looks like the dark site of Martin's is a keeper! Nice pic too, yes a teensy bit too much sat but its a great look

Ta, Dunk.
Thanks, Simo. To misquote Roy & HG: too much saturation is barely enough

Aaaaaghh my eyes! :eyepop:
Lol - very punchy image Rick - there are some dark circles around the blue stars though?
Well composed and great detail in the O3 regions

 Very nice Rick.......mind boggling exposure times , wish I could concentrate on one subject like that, I'm like a seagull, image as many objects as I can in one night

I really like the sharpness of your rendering Rick. Maybe just a little too much saturation for my tastes, but that is a pretty minor consideration. The palette is really nice; I think as a result I might actually go back and revisit my edition of this very same target I did last year.

Thanks, Ross.
Ta, Andy. I noticed the dark circles and hadn't decided whether to try to fix them yet. Perhaps I'll even tone down the colour just a tad as well
Thanks, beren. I've been there too :) It's a lot easier to concentrate on a few objects once you have access to any automated system.
Thanks, Paul. Look forward to yours...

A few tweaks... more magenta for Mikey, improved the stars a little for Andy (not perfect, but better), coloured the electric blue areas with a little more subtlety, etc. It's still very saturated :P

I'll add a slider next time, Mike, and you can dial in exactly as much as you want

Now wouldn't that be good ..what a great idea :D, every time you post an image you give the viewer the ability to slide the colours to what ever they like, brilliant ...heck why not just supply the processed LRGBHaOIIISII sets and say "here! make it so you like it buddy!"

I'm going to rush out and patent the idea of attaching ICC Colour profiles to people :P
