Scientists have used the Keck Telescope and the ESO's VLT in Chile to confirm the discovery of a triple quasar 10 billion light years away.

The article mentioned.......
"At the end, nothing is left," says Rasio. "They kick each other out of the centre of the galaxy."
My impression of a quasar was that it is an object bigger than a galaxy. The indication of that statement is that the 3 discovered are within a galaxy. I am confused therefore as to what scientists understand about quasars as the statement indicates they are found within a galaxy I thought otherwise exactly what I thought I am not sure.
Any help greatly appreciated.
