Hi Brian, the 'E' used to mean explorer, yep cool, mars and heaps of other cool stuff, now it's called Edge, Oh, now we only have an edge, that's all. :P

Need I say more....yep Carp for sure. I'm going back to Win 7 for 17% more sanity for all my PC's whilst I can. And Google and Firefox of course at a cost of 79% more satisfaction. :)

I have changed 1 PC from Win7 to Win 10 for 8 months as it was a free upgrade and I feel the whole thing is a downgrade. I'm going back to Win 7 this weekend.

Cheers,

Damien.

Get rid of this stupid OS.
Even Ubuntu Linux is much better and uses less resources. But I have a Mac sinds 7 years and am very happy with it.. When I do need Windows, I run VirtualBox on my Mac with a Win10 client and when it is updating, I can still use the macOS host OS.
Win 10 updates itself almost every day and then you'll see a blue screen for several minutes with 'Windows is preparing your computer, don't switch off". And during that time you cannot use it.
When this occurs one a month (like macOS minor updates) then it is not a big deal, but this happens almost every day.

Hi Guys, Alice my dear wife has win 10 and hates it, dose that mean i can actually go back to Win 7 or later, she was much more comfortable using an earlier version of Win.

Thanks, Leon

The freezing is due to the latest W10 "Creators" update and is fixable, although wall damage may be permanent ;)

Google is you friend and many W10 users have had the same issues. My PC had its main drive set to switch off after 20 minutes! You can also find instructions on removing the update in safe mode etc..

Probably not much benefit to be gained from reverting to W7, as they will
probably withdraw support for it before too long. My favourite system by
a country mile was XP, had very few problems with it.

For me .... Win10 was no good ...did the upgrade and within a day lost my Network settings ....wouldn't behave itself whatever I tried ..... did a ' rollback ' .....surprise,surprise .... Network is there and all good.

Didn't like the ' Interface ' anyway...

I use Firefox ... and have done for many, many years .

I think win7 and xp are still fine with a clean install and no updates. I have been running win 7 on my desktop for years without issue, auto updates turned off. My astro win8 laptop has run flawlessly since new, but that also has had no updates, it is not used for the internet so while it works I just leave it alone.
In the past I have found the security updates the worst culprits for making windows unstable. My recent VPN upgrade included a MS security upgrade and on first reboot the system blue screened, uninstalled that upgrade and everything seems to be ok again.

I humbly suggest that some of you look elsewhere other than Win 10 for the explanation for most of these issues. Having used Windows since it first appeared I would say that Win 10 is the most stable self maintaining and reliable version of Windows yet. Yes the very recent major feature update did change some settings which was very irritating but easily fixed.
I have Win 10 on four machines and they all just keep on working.

Not easily fixed if you are a semi computer literate octogenarian
like me. Everything was pretty obvious and user friendly for people
like me; now I have to go hunting for just about everything. XP rules:love::love:

If these new operating systems are so good why do they have so many upgrade patches all the time. I'm sure it's all a plot to make your old software incompatible to force you to upgrade. XP and Win7 had nowhere near the amount of patches win 10 has had.

It is not Windows 10, it is IE that is total crap. I am running Windows 7 and it locked up probably 20 times a day. Well it did, now I have Firefox as my default browser, no more lockups. IE is total junk and MS should be hung by the goolies for allowing it to be still used. It is bug ridden and as flaky as anything I have ever experienced.
The really weird part when trying to shut it down when it locks up, is that it always comes up with the message that it is waiting for a response from the user, what a load of crud:mad2:

I use firefox mainly and chrome sometimes but my ie11 hasn't ever crashed my win7 system? I don't use IE much now because it started to have a lot of compatibility issues with some web sites.
