Just a quick note to let everyone know I am still alive...

Just spent the last several days at Disney World in FL USA...it has been fun and the kids are ecstatic but let me tell you, the night sky here has been horrible...between the clouds and the light pollution it has been a shocker...I am gaining an even greater respect for our dark Australian skies...

Anyway, another 10 days or so to go on holiday...

My wife and I are still speaking and all our kids are still alive (at the time of writing) so it has been a success so far...

Tomorrow we are off to visit family in Florida and I have it on good authority that some Astro gear is waiting for me...I hope we still have suitcase space for it!

we'll make a trip over to see Cape Kennedy so still a few hoghlights to go...

Clear Skies all!

Sounds like a fantastic holiday, Cape Kennedy should be a buzz. Hope to see some pictures when you get back.

Cheers

I have had 2 x 4 week business trips to the US and UK and a 3 week holiday in England and Scotland and have never seen enough of the sky to be confident I knew which bright stars I was seeing. Worst was 2 weeks in England in January a few years ago when I did not see the sun let alone the night sky!

Partly bad luck with weather but it certainly made me appreciate our home skies. (and cricket team:whistle: )

Yep Dave, England is like that right now. So reassuring to know some things don't change isn't it? I've forgotten what the sun, never mind the stars, look like. Anyway I'm coming back to Aus next year for a while and will get a sun and stars fix then...

I wouldn't imagine Florida would be a good place to observe anything, except
for maybe cyclones.

regards,CS sunny days

DSO,
If you want a good holiday, then come when your sky is always cloudy, and ours is always clear, mmmm lets see, IISAC time would be good.
Have we got some sights to show you.
Mike.

Disney Land must have been a buzz! Even better will be Cape Kennedy.
Enjoy yourselves.

The only thing I've seen has been Pluto...and Micky and Donald etc...

Between the clouds and the late nightswith kids at the Magic Kingdom there has notbeen a chance to even naked eye the sky for any lengh of time at all...

Cheers All!
