Anarcotes image of the day "Horsey"

Just wanted to share this image that looks fantastic.

Yes he has dark skies and heaps of experience but I still like looking at what people can produce with the same gear I will have in around 3 months.

I havn't seen a lot of images taken with the TOA150 & STL11000 combination.
It is a lot of exposure time as well.

Very nice image. So smooth yet so sharp. I'm not sure which I could stare at longer though .... the picture of the equipment used or the astro pic :whistle:

Nice image, very sharp, but to me it looks a little overprocessed. I don't like the spikes either....

Gee....probably the nicest image I have seen of this region on this forum and your all bagging it.....I feel sorry for those who have imaged the horse as of late....lol

Maybe its because it's not a forum member's image.
Everyone seems to get a bit scared to offend members images instead of telling them the truth so they can learn from it.

I agree with you all on the spikes....but I dont look at the star spikes when looking at this image.

I would be stoked to get a image half this good.

Jase the new FSQ was tempting for me it was the short focal length that put me off.

LOL.:lol: Errrmmm forget about it Tony. The TOA-150 tube assembly weighs 19.4kg. Add 2kg for the STL series CCD camera, then flatteners/reducers ~.3kg - Total 21.7kg

Whats that?? Your bored of LRGB imaging and want to get into narrowband with Ha,OIII and SII filters. Need a guidescope then because your self guiding camera aint going to see a thing through those filters.

Your AP900 has an instrument weight capacity of 31.8kg. So you have 10.1kg left for your guidescope, computerised focuser and other accessories. Possibly cutting it fine. The FSQ-106 is 6kg so perhaps that would make a nice guidescope/second imaging scope.

Should have gone the Titan with a weight capacity of 45.3kg.;)

The TOA150 is 14.8..where did you get the 19.4...or then again where did I get 14.8 from...my guide scope is only 3kg's.

I already have a guide scope...once I finish it I will post an image.

It depends how you look at the weight ratings Jase..the titan's ratting is really for visual where the AP is for imaging.

But like the Tak mounts which are rated low but can handle much more.

But I would have been happy with a Titan, I can always use the extra shed space...hehehehe

Robofocus has arrived,...wahoo 4 days in transit from the states...funny I wont have a scope to put it on for months yet.

Tak TOA 150 = brilliant scope

AP900 = superb mount

STL 11000 = great camera

That Horsehead image is very good indeed! The spikes look ok, even though they were added, must say though, I have never been able to bring myself to add string to the objective of my Starfire :scared: ...just seemed like optical heresy to me..?

Bright Zeta Orionis was handled very well in this image too IMO.

I too would be very happy to get this from the ASA N12, in fact I will have a similar FOV to this ie 1.8deg X 1.2Deg with the PL11002 :).

Mike who said anything about imaging with this set up...that takes too long and is too difficult.

I'm just going to look and caress the scope and mount for the first 6 months then I might turn it on maybe....lol

I know how hard that must of been for you to say Mike STL 11000 = Great Camera....hahahaha

Of course the STL is a great camera, I'm just gambling on a strong hunch that the ProLine is even better :D

Nothing wrong with looking through that kit at all, that's exactly what I'd do too :)

I think your setup will be a little more user friendly than mine actually due to the anticipated collimation temprementality of a fast Newt but once tweeked properly the F3.8 and 12" of apperture plus carbon fibre tube should prove a good system..? well that's what my gut is telling me anyway...and my gut is bigger these days :lol:
