Fraser Coast stargazers are getting together for the monthly do on Saturday January the 20th.
We welcome all and enjoy a relaxed social time out under fairly clean skies and enjoy a nice view too.
Please PM me or phone 07-41258006 if you are interested in coming along, our regular turnout is around 8-20 people and up to 15 scopes of all kinds.
Below is a snap of the current viewing site.

Cheers and clear skies to all:welcome: :astron:

Hi Steve,

Amost dropped in last time on Dec 23rd but ended up spending the night
binocular observing at Toogoom. Had actually crossed the Mary River earlier that
evening but will catch up with you next time we are up that way.

Do you get much of the orange street light glow from Hervey Bay?

Best Regards

Hi Gary yes the H. Bay light loom is evident, but only up to about 30" altitude, for instance it does not stop us from enjoying the popular nebulas and galaxies towards the north, or the faint features in Virgo. Having said that i would go to Toogoom to image objects to the lower north. On the bright side though our views in the other directions are quite good, specially the east.
I used to live at Toogoom only last year, best views of Andromeda etc i ever had on still cool nights.

Shame you could not have made it for the Dec. 23rd night, it was simply 9/10 perfect in every way. Bino's on Fraser must have been nice, we had some good weather 25" south over christmas.

Till we meet,
steve
