Hi all,

I was not aware of this...

With sad passing of the founder of QSI, the board announced that they are not taking new orders for cameras, but promised to continue servicing existing cameras. They may move away from astro dedicated cameras and focus on biology/industry dedicated cameras.

There is an official announcement on QSI yahoo group.

Suavi,

I sent an email to QSI and got this response.

QSI is currently restructuring following the unexpected death of the owner. We have temporarily limited our production to just our OEM customers as we work through a difficult time. We fully intend on resuming normal production once we are able to do so.

Hopefully they do continue onwards with Astro camera production.

Thank you Paul for the update.

I understood their announcement on Yahoo group as they were to stop manufacturing astro cameras and focus on medical imaging, but it is good to know that there is hope that QSI will continue making cameras dedicated to astro imaging. I was hoping my next camera will also be QSI as 500/600 series is a very nice, reliable and compact solution for astro and is cheaper than FLI/SBIG.
