The start of work in progress on a new Summer target, the Rosette nebula NGC 2244.

I last imaged this about four years ago when I was just getting started with my old OSC, so it's time to revisit this in NB.

Big trees block my view of this one from my backyard, so after successfully gathering LRGB data to finish off a few other projects I quickly reframed at 2am (brrr, freezing :cold:) & nabbed a couple of hrs of Ha on this last weekend.

As the season goes on, I hope to go full HaO3S2 RGB on this one.
Here (https://www.astrobin.com/321168/0/) is 6x1200secs Ha 3nm from my mate's property in rural Victoria.

I'm amazed how much Ha there is showing up in the background already! :astron:

Look forward to the final result, Andy. The weather up here is rarely much good in summer, alas...

Must have been a little while ago that you got up at 2am to image as it hasn't been cold down here for ages! hehe

The Ha is looking good so far though. I cannot really image it from Melbourne, my garage and then trees get in the way :(

Plenty of details there Andy, can't wait for the final result!

Cheers Rick - we had a shocking wet winter, guess it all evens out.

Yeah it was t-shirt & shorts during setup, then adding layers as the night went on. I can assure you though, 2am was frikkin' chilly out in the country!

Don't hold your breath Bo - it might be a while before the planets align again - ie: New Moon, Free weekend & Clear skies!
Hopefully I can bag it as the season continues :)

That's excellent. Very deep and sharp. If you feel like a mosaic you could track towards the cone nebula not too far off field.
