Some filler shots I just finished processing from Astrofest, but for Rho Ophiuchus which is 44x20min so ~15h. Doesn't have much to show for it though. I've decided I hate Rho. :bashcomp:
Same rig as these (http://www.iceinspace.com.au/forum/showpost.php?p=1331800&postcount=1).

Here's the list:

Orion [75% - 4.1MB (http://www.astropic.space/astro/Orion_150mm_fff.jpg)] [HD - 3MB (http://www.astropic.space/astro/Orion_150mm_HD.jpg)]
SMC [75% - 4.3MB (http://www.astropic.space/astro/SMC_150mm_fff.jpg)] [HD - 3.1MB (http://www.astropic.space/astro/SMC_150mm_HD.jpg)]
LMC [75% - 4MB (http://www.astropic.space/astro/LMC_150mm_fff.jpg)] [HD - 3MB (http://www.astropic.space/astro/LMC_150mm_HD.jpg)]
Rho [75% - 3.7MB (http://www.astropic.space/astro/Rho_150mm_fff.jpg)] [HD - 2.8MB (http://www.astropic.space/astro/Rho_150mm_HD.jpg)]

I used that new groovy photometrico color calibración in PI to get the color "right" so hopefully they're not too green biaised.

Enjoy the views.

Those fields of view on the LMC and SMC are excellent. It really shows the shapes well.

Another nice collection of images from a star party Marc, a good record of your hard core attendance ...you must have a few such images now?

Really nice Marc!
Forget how many hours went into these images, how many bottles? ;)

Thanks Paul. 150mm with my QHY8 is about the sweet spot for the clouds. Fits nicely. Did a lot of color an Ha on them much better from NSW. They're very low from QLD and I had to pull my tent down to get the LMC but when the milkyway goes down West, there's not much to image at 150mm in color until the pleiades and orion get up.

Thanks Mike. Got the lens only this time, no scope. I figured the seeing would be average so no point getting anything longer. Astrofest is always good value. Great venue and people. Very relaxed.

Thanks Colin. No grapes were harmed during the making of those photos. TBH I can't remember. You'll have to ask Rick. :P

I always look at collections like this from you guys who image at star parties and feel quite ashamed and inadequate :)...I just observe, eat and drink when I am there

Well, I do the same really. you just need more training and you'll get better at multi tasking. :drink: Talk to Louie. He runs workshops in Padstow. Just sayin'

Ha ha yeah, although it is also the, can't be bothered dismantling and packing the car and unpacking and setting up, dismantling, packing car and then unpacking, then reassembling blah blah blah factor too...

Probably ...but I have considered putting together a small portable rig to take to SPSP and then hopefully take it around to other dark places buuuut it has never come to fruition ....

The FSQ would be great for that on a smaller mount. I'd keep it for field work. Plug 'n' play. Get your AP out of moth balls in your obs.

Very nice images Marc.

That must be one of the earliest early Orions ever! 4:30am subs?
Bit confused at the lack of signal in your Rho pic. What did you stop the lens down to? f11?

Thanks Pete. About 3:00am onwards. Gets pretty high very quickly up there.

Yeah I'm a bit bummed about that one. I stopped it only two stops. It probably doesn't have enough aperture to start with. In all the years I've had a go at Rho it's always come short of expectations somehow.

Oh well, one day I'll burn it out with the hyperstar to teach the ophiuchans some manners. :wink2:

Shot with an 85mm lens, not sure if aperture is your problem.
With 20 minute subs and 15 hours you should be drawing a lot of signal in there.

A very productive time, Marc. The LMC came out very well. The large patch of thousands of semi-detached stars well to the left of the Tarantula is particularly well shown.

Might try to revisit the RAW file see if I can stretch it a bit more but I suspect not enough light getting in my stopped lens.

Thanks mate. Get well soon and we'll see you again.

Thanks Mike. Yeah those blue stars really stick out in RGB.

Great shots, Marc! I'm especially a fan of the LMC. With any of my scope/camera set ups it would be a very daunting mosaic.

Great set of images Marc,

I like the LMC and SMC the best

Shame about the Rho pic, considering the integration time. Just add to it next AF :)

Cheers Geoff
