I have just put a deposit down on the new Meade 16' lightbridge from Bintel in Sydney. Now waiting for the rain:whistle: . I will have to do all the little things to it I suspect when I get it, including a shroud.

Good onya houghy, there is nothing like a nice simple Dob for good old fashioned easy plain observational astronomy and searching and fun at starparties- they do free up some of your time dont they

I wouldn't say dark side.. i'd say you've seen the light :P

You know though dave, you'll have to do more observing now that you're getting an undriven dob!

This means you have to buy those horrible things called eye pieces.

Never been able to work out what there for.

A 3 month ban on the astrophotography and imaging area is sufficent Mike.

hahahaha Harb...nicely done.

The man's got a plan.....

He can observe thru the LB while he's imaging thru his imaging setup.

Goodonya Houghy great move mate, best of both worlds.

Nice one mate!

'bout time you saw the light ;) - you will have to use the force ;) to find what you are looking for now, but at least it will be a lot quiter (apart from the oh's and ah's when you look through the eyepiece). To ease the transition I would suggest you record a CD of buzz-whirr-click sequences and play this (loud of course) when starhopping from one object to the next for the first few months of use, after which it can be slowly phased out.

Are you going to give it the Argo Navis treatment, or do you want me to send you some star charts? Are we going to see it at Astrofest this year?

...apologies, but all puns were intended

Mike,
Without going off topic too far. The G.S.O. 12" will fit and work very well on a EQ6.
Our club president has a combination like this and it's one awesome setup.:D
