Well, auroras are seen from NSW occasionally, and the Kp is high enough for it ATM, so assuming that this sort of level holds until tonight, and assuming a clear, dark southern horizon with good transparency, it may just be possible to pick them up. That's a lot of assumptions though, and I don't know how the moon affects things for this latitude-challenged location (horizon brightening won't help either). Also the GFS cloud forecast suggests some cloudiness off shore. Still you may get lucky. Regardless of the above, I would say that if there was ANY part of the city between you and it, forget it.

BOM IPS are saying Kp6 for us at the moment, if it ramps up to Kp7 or 8 tonight then it may be possible to see something from the SE of the country but the near full moonlight wont be doing us any favours.
Be interested to hear if anyone from Tassie or Vic. saw anything last night / this morning, have seen some images from NZ.
The active region causing the X class flares has been interesting to watch for the past few days.

Hi Guys, you absolutely can see the pulsations. They were the most surprising feature when I first saw them years ago and I was awestruck. No visible colour though.

For perspective, the faint moonlight on the clouds in front was just visible.
