Storms the other night 30thDecember

Hi all,

here are a couple of pics... First 5 were from home, the 4th and 5th ones are vid captures, the last three are from the 30th out in the Riverland, near the murray river.

WOOO HHOOO that's awesome- that make the hair stand up with a few of those shots. when I got mint a few weeks back a couple of bolts landed close and the air was really electrified, tingly feeling all over!! That's always awe inspiring seeing lighting like that. And live to tell the tail!!

Speaking of a slight tingle Houghy...A good friend who also happens to be a chaser of sorts (well he goes out and watches) was watching the storm from near the beach and was indirectly hit by lightning, him and another guy were hit. They were leaning on a guard rail when the lightning hit it and sent both of them to the ground, both survived... We have even got a picture that we believe is the bolt that almost hit him... and the report from the pghotographer, its a bloody awesome shot I must say...

and the report: A cell just popped up out of nowhere and produced this stunning CG over Adelaide airport (or just west of it). I had literally just set the camera up under the front veranda when it happened. Sadly I think it hit something (or somebody) as there were a whole bunch of sirens going west along henley beach road (towards the general area of the strike) just a couple of minutes later ...

My settings on my camera were typically 5.6-8 apature with 15 seconds exposure. I forgot my cable release so I had to use the timed method :(God I need a DSLR LOL

Still waiting for other settings.

Not all that wild in terms of what I have been through before, but certainly was entertaining. It was a shame one of my close friends was hit but its the nature of the game we play.
