Cheers Rob
Been waiting for something interesting to show my Son, who's here on hols from Uni. So far, only cloud at night which clears during the day. A good sunspot or two will be a daytime bonus.

PSt's to the ready - all I need now are some clear skies to see the sun, but that will happen only when I return to work on tuesday. Please get some good piccys paul!

I tried imaging it today (sorta got it) but the ToUcam is not the best camera for the job. I'll try it again tomorrow with the SAC which seems to do a better job, but it might have to wait until Tues or Wed when (hopefully) the DMK turns up
I suppose I could do a normal white light shot of it tomorrow, but its just not the same now  ;)

Here you go h0ughy, a crop from the full size image. This is with the ToUcam to the resolution is only 1/4 of what you would normally expect. Red channel only, best 100/600. Colourized in Images Plus.

That's a great shot Paul! Even got a small prominance in there! Imagine how good it will look when it once again returns to face us

For those with Ha scopes there is a really nice deep coloured filament
developing off 933 today that wasn't there yesterday. Could make for
a nice imaging target. Unfortunately I haven't been able to get any real
success with the LPI.
btw, nice! capture Paul

Cloud here atm :(
Rob have you read Astronut's Solar Primer (http://www.astro-nut.com/SolarPrimer.pdf)? It has helped me immensely. Astronuts whole solar section (http://www.astro-nut.com/sun.html)is very handy.

It has now almost completely disapeared.

nice paul very nice. I never knew the PST could do that, got a pic of your imaging setup?;)

Houghy,
There is a chap on the solar-observers group who has been posting some
rather amazing captures, using a PST and a ToUcam. When he posts another
I'll get his permission to post it here.

Orion on Eq3 for white light solar imaging witht the PST piggyback. (http://www.iceinspace.com.au/forum/attachment.php?attachmentid=20866&d=1166405558)
h0ughy I'm not going to use the ToUcam much for Ha stuff. Between the Sac 4.2 and the ToUcam the SAC seem to do a better job even with leakage across the channels. That is until the DMK gets here ;)

Paul,
just re-reading these posts, I must of missed "Astronut's Solar Primer (http://www.astro-nut.com/SolarPrimer.pdf)" bit
downloading as we speak.

It's just starting to cloud over here, but I'm sure I'm seeing what appears
to be a massive sunspot following 933 right on the limb, If I'm correct
it is the biggest we have seen for sometime. Hopefully we'll know by the
end of the day.
Unfortunately we're heading for storm mode here, so further observations
today looks unlikely
Edit: Just checking SNPP6 livesky solar images SOHO's EIT 195 and EIT 171
does show what maybe some activity.
