That looks like a possible sun dog there houghy in the middle frame, was it in line with the sun ie... similar alt? and to the left or right of the sun? The first one is irridecence, caused by the light scatter from high altitude ice Crystals. Great shots.

if you look at the photo you will see the sun up to the left of the shot, way out of view, if it were a sun dog I would have been looking more towards the sun, this was away from the sun, by about 90 deg

HOughy, my first thought was a circumzenthal arc:

http://scienceworld.wolfram.com/astronomy/CircumzenithalArc.html

but this requires the Sun to be fairly low, an unlikely event at midday in midsummer.

It is possibly a fallstreak hole

where ice crystals are forming, and you just happen to be at the right angle to get a prism effect.

most unusual

well done for capturing some of the display! that is an ultimate kind of imaging technically for optical reasons i am lead to believe, rainbow imaging is an art in itself you either get lucky or not, so i am told.
I got lucky up north once for some reason (the rainbow shot.....) through a yashica SLR but have had trouble since then, well i havent tried to hard either.

Hi hOughy,
Just browsing through "out of the blue"..and it looks like a Circumhorizontal Arc..this occurs when the Sun is more than 58 degrees above the Horizon..great shots though!

I've seen these before.

Its called the Wallet Nebula

It's a clear sign that you have not spent enough on astro gear this month...
keep spending untill the color goes away leaving just grey murky color....then hide from wife.
