Ok got the Dob up and running , but clouds clouds clouds and more clouds

From the quick 10 secs i get to see the moon , it looks fantastic . Now for the questions ......... im using the 25mm eyepiece to look at the moon and it looks brilliant but should i keep usiong the 25mm or switch to a 6mm or 9mm. Its been hard to test it cos by the time i get the 9mm in the thing , the moons disappeared behind a bloody huge cloud and the missus is tellin me to come in and come to bed , which isnt neccesarily a bad thing ;)

And also if the clouds ever do clear and i sort the moon out what should i look at next as a easy target . ?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

The 6 & 9mm will be good for a closer look at the Moon's surface.
After you're done with the moon, check out Saturn, and preferably after the Moon has set, have a go at M42, 47Tuc, eta Carina.

Thanks Steve

Now may the clouds clear and i finally can have a good look around otherwise if the clouds clear the following night im gonna have to try and persuade the wife that we could stay home for new years and persuade her that it could be very very romantic to star gaze the new year in .

Cheers !

Hi Steve, the large and small Magellenic clouds are also great viewing this time of year but use the 25mm and take in the wider FOV. They are fantastic viewing.
It definitely beats the fireworks hands down.

Steve, you will find the 25 & 9mm the most used eyepieces in your collection.

As for other objects, the others have covered it really well.

Great scope ;)

Steve just point the thing at the brighter bits dotted around the night sky after your eyes have adjusted - give 30min to 1 hour, and enjoy -it doesn't get any better than freely roaming the night sky, and if that gets a bit futile just point the scope at the b####y moon, it is demanding a bit of attention this time of month as usual bless it.
Just enjoy it all despite whatever EP is stuck into the focuser. as others have said time and time again start with the longest focal length EP's and work your way down to the littler ones if you must...
