Spent the last couple weeks when clouds permitted collecting data on Helix not expecting much as a result from the backyard . I think it turned out better than I expected in fact I was happy to get anything that remotely looked like it ... bit of LP to remove and some slight gradients I will work on that :)
Total was 6hr Ha 3hr O3 180s exposures GSO RC10 , ASI1600

Added a bit more Ha and reprocessed ... found something I had been doing wrong getting much better results now

Helix looks pretty good Marke, I would be pleased with that.
You probably need another 6 hours of Ha to get those outer shells to reveal themselves.

Cheers
Bill

I will get some more time on it but I'm limited by background light levels unfortunately

Thanks Graham very happy with 1600 its very sensitive I did find some amp glow with this image for some reason that I hadn't noticed before.

Yeah, that's pretty good Marke, I like the way you have managed to show both the radiating fan like OIII structures and also squeezed in the Ha globule details too, not easy

Think it's from the high jpeg compression it went a bit posterized on saving

You must be shooting at quite an image scale with that setup Mark. The results are rest, as others have said, just keep adding :P

It's at 10" f5.5 with the asi1600 I'm at 0.56 sampling
It seems to work ok for small fov :D

Looks good Mark. One of those NB targets where you can just keep pumping away grabbing data to your hearts content. More Oiii whilst the moon is away would be good.

Thanks David that's probably what I will be doing

Well done Mark  I love that radial filament detail that's starting to come out in what I suppose we should call the iris. Just like the human eye !

Yeah a lot better than my first attempt at It.....good work Mark

I've currently got 30 hrs of Ha on It but the seeing has been mostly crap and so I've put It off for the year.

Really nice effort Marc. i am surprised you got the image you did with the LP you would have to contend with

Marke

I agree the appearance of an eye is what really makes the helix stand out

really pretty image - you have extracted some fine detail without excessive processing harshness - nice work. agree more data will help, but this is good anyway.
