Suburban Swan

Tried the Swan for the first time I was happy with the data but light pollution was tough and not sure about the colour I think its ok .
RC10 ASI1600 1hr Ha, 2hr LRGB and unfortunatly 50% compression

Edited with 3rd edition I think this is more like it apart from the compression noise

Yes, agreed, the data is good :thumbsup: perhaps looking a tad orange? a little more pink/magenta in there might look nicer but from the burbs of Sydney, hey, pretty good :thumbsup: Displaying images on IIS for a proper look is almost a waste of time.

Nice sharp data but you've got a problem with the Ha blend giving the dreaded salmon Ha colour. It seems you have blended Ha in as luminance or as a red layer in normal blend mode in Photoshop?

There are a few ways to do it. One is to combine it with the red and weight its brightness so it doesn't overtake the image.

Another way is to have Ha as its own layer, set it to lighten mode and colourise it red and use the opacity slider to suit.

Another way is to use Don Goldmans narrowband technique. He has a video tutorial on his website. That's the method I use and I am happy with the results. I see plenty who get good results with 1 above but its more touchy and you have no control once done. The other 2 above and the Goldman method give you complete control and ability to adjust to suit.

Ha blending is a bit technique and a bit art. So its a matter of practice makes perfect here.

Marke, I find the image thoroughly inspirational. Images like this encourage me to spend more time in the backyard, looking upwards, after all, isn't looking upwards what we are supposed to do?

Thanks mate yes there is a lot hidden there that with a bit of perseverance you can see and image . It is easy to get discouraged at times looking at all the perfect pics from dark sites tho I can sympathise.

Looks really good Mark, appears I've basically missed V1&2 and just spotted the best of the lot :thumbsup:

Yes its a challenge but can be done and my site was ok for years but lately lots of development means my skies have taken a significant down turn :sadeyes::sadeyes:

Thanks Rick there is still quite a bit of star missalignment its the first time Ive had a meridian flip half way thru and a few other things I just cant get them all lined up and sharp . Maybe next time :thumbsup:
