Delta Aquarids Meteor Shower

Anyone in NSW interested in Delta Aquairds Meteor Shower this weekend?

Later in the week will be better for meteor watching as the 28th to 30th is the peaks of the Pisces Austrinids, Southern delta Aquarids and Alpha Capricornids. None of these showers have high ZHR but combined, should see up to 25 an hour, if you can see the whole sky at the same time.
As is always the case with meteors, after the moon sets and after midnight is the best time to observe. Hopefully, Sat night will be clear and can get out in the field with some fellow club members for an observing / imaging session .

So for folk like me who know very little where should I look, dates, times, compass heading and angle in the sky.

Hi Alex,

As far as I understand this weekend is good and probably can have 25/hr.
Some websites said is good after mid night as the moon sets.


Facing NEN, N and NWN direction and iirc should be near zenith (around 70' according to stellairum)

Thank you it certainly helps me and others as well.
I slotted two beauties last night whilst out around 10 pm the first I have seen in a long time....mind you been a while since been getting out there.
The condition have been great all week its a pity I only have binos with me here.

Just seen a bright, slow-moving meteor near Vega.

I estimate at Mag -2 with a tail; and the meteor went about 10 degrees in about 1 to 2 secs.

There was something strange about the tail, it seemed to sparkle rather than look like a smoke tail.

I went out specifically to look for meteors since there are several showers occurring at the moment. It only took about 1 minute of looking to see this meteor. Unfortunately, it only took about 3 more minutes for the clouds to roll over. :shrug:
