Hi all,

This is my first attempt at this popular DSO. Looks like an interesting object, and eventually this B/W image will hopefully be transformed into a colour image.

Acquisition details:

-> CFF 105mm f/6 with a flattener
-> ICX 814
-> 33 x 900s Ha
-> Paddington in Bris Vegas
-> Processing in PI and some initial experimental stretch with Fits Liberator. At this image scale (1.18"pp) drizzle was unnecessary.

Nicely balanced composition Suavi, should make a dramatic colour image!
There's already plenty of nice detail showing :)

Thank you Andy!

I had a look at a single 900s sub and the whole stack, and it really stood out for me that if I want my images to be more 3D-like and not flat, significant integration is the only way...

Hopefully weather gods will allow to start collecting OIII photons for this target, while the moon is not interfering.

It's looking good Suavi! As someone that has been imaging at 1.15"/pixel for a while, it can be quite useful drizzle integrating at your image scale.

You do make a very good observation though, integration time is what really helps with that 3D feel. It is something that I should remember as you've been putting more time into each channel than I've been putting into entire images! :lol:

Excellent detail depth and contrast. A lovely image. Especially so given the aperture and sky.

Thank you gents for your encouragement. Started collecting OIII last night - certainly there is not much signal in it!

Thank you Rick and Michael. Got 5.5 hours of OIII already. Will do a quick integration and see if I need much more or perhaps I could get away with what I have and soon move to SII.
