Merry Christmas All!
So what did Santa bring all you good boys and girls? My stocking contained an Orion AccuFocus :jump2: , which is already fitted (and no doubt is contributing to the cloud over Brisbane!).
Of course those of you who sat up all night trying to capture him with your scope and web cam may have invoked the ultimate penalty of no visit at all!

A 2" NPB filter here ... no doubt adding to the cloud cover over Brisbane. Just itching to introduce it to the 31mm Nag over the coming week.
Merry Christmas All

I saw brand new Record Players in Kmart!!!! Apparently the demand for them is back.
You must be having a ball Jeanette
Apart from my mini video camera I got a new electric Jaffle maker :) socks, a pen Harry made for me, and a red LED headband torch.
My mount is one of my prezzies but I haven't been down to Melbourne to pick it up yet. Hopefully in the next week or two when I can get some time off.

Great presant, I keep meaning to buy myself one as Ive got a box of old vinyl and occasionally buy some more :screwy: at house clearance auctions (a great source).
No astro goodies Ive already blown my budget for 2006, wah hey soon be 2007.
Anyway Im looking at my present right now, due to the fact my old computer monitor blew up last month and Ive been using an old 15":scared: decided to lash out and get a 22" LCD.

I've still got my record player, but SWMBO made me sell all my LPs. All my CCR, Led Zepplin, Hendrix, Joplin, too many to remember. I've been slowly trying to re-build the collection with CDs.
The most exciting Chrissy present I got was a dozen bottles of Cab Merlot, and of course chocolates and underwear (gees, just cause I've a few holes in my current stock of underwear:rolleyes: ).
HOWEVER, it was my birthday on the 22nd, and I was presented with a 13mm Stratus and an Orion Deluxe 2" barlow:D (it's hardly a gift when you have to buy it yourself:rolleyes: ). Waiting for first light.
As I'm a Newbie, I would like to take this oportunity of thanking Ron, Paul, Jeanette, and Steve for all the help and support they have given me. And also the countless others who have responded patiently to my naive and sometimes stupid questions. I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas. Don't eat too much, but leave plenty of room for drink:cheers: .
Sweaty hot here. Bit different down south:cold:. Hopefully it has brought some relief to the fires and the drought. It could turn out to be the best Christmas
some of those folk could have wished for.

We don't put the decorations up until the grandkids are asleep, that way the place looks like a fairy story when they get up.:eyepop:
But I got some neat stuff for the Barbie, are you listening Houghy? The way to a man's heart is through his BBQ.
A beaut smoker box to put the wood chips in, and a bbq roasting rack, Nice one Santa.

No more aching backs - sounds good.
Let's know when the web site is up and going:thumbsup:
Hi all, I got a great book/manual on Permaculture, about 600 pages so that will keep me quiet on those cloudy nights. And judging by all the new astro gear there will be a few coming up:lol:

We had a simple Christmas this year, less presents and a cut down Christmas Dinner menu, I got The Young Ones series 1 and 2 DVD's, a book and some chocolate coated ginger. We'll be celebrating Christmas again at the of January with the kids (and grandkids) who unfortunately couldn't make it due to work commitments. :D

I landed a 3-seater Pelican canoe, an electric trolling motor for it as well as a great Brookstone wine corker from the States and a set of 6 "Brat Pack" CD's (Sinatra, Davis Jr, et al).
Very happy chappy! Now I just have to figure out how to mount the scope in the canoe......
What you'll need is an Argo Navis adaptor.
;)
Me and the Mrs have been very "practical" this year and are holding off on the buying and giving of gifts until the post-Xmas period when (hopefully) prices will be a little more reasonable.
Feels a bit weird, actually. Don't know if we'll be repeating this little experiment again. Xmas morn not the same without the tearing off of wrapping paper.
But we had a nice day with family and friends. Loadsa food and drink and good company. Which is really what it's all about;)
(or so I'm told:lol:)

Well not for Christmas, but for my birthday (also Christmas Day - Hi David) - my wife let me buy the biggest I could get from AOE - a set of 30x100 binoculars. I've had a night from the nightglow-drenched backyard, and a few hours under darker skies - loving them. Had to build my own binocular mount to hold the monsters. Watch the DIY section for evidence.:)
